After earning a BA in communications at the University of Minnesota and studying abroad in New Zealand, Mike dove into the entertainment marketing business. After gaining the experience of the business world he soon after opened his own artist management company dealing primarily with advertising agencies and corporate clients.
It was during this period that Mike became interested in real estate, both commercial and residential; learning various strategies on financing and the value that real estate could add to a deal and overall success of a company or concept. He went on to graduate from the University of San Diego, with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Naval Science, while serving in the United States Navy. Sarah Skahen

Sarah has over 4 years of office administration experience, 2 years of office management, and nearly 8 years of customer service, most of which was in real estate. Sarah is our Sales Coordinator. She is in charge of handling all of our sales files and making sure everything goes as planned when coming to closing on your home. She is the contact person for any questions or concerns on all of our listing for sale and for buyers. Sarah is great to work with and will get you what you need in a timely matter. She also helps plan our company events such as client Happy Hours, Outdoor events, Holiday events, & even vacations.
Sarah is recently married and just bought her first home in Richfield. She loves all the events that take place every day in the city and enjoys hanging out with her two puggle puppies and shopping at the MOA. Sarah is always a quick learner and loves to help where she sees a need.

Ross Melby

Ross was born and raised in Minnetonka and quickly became interested in real estate while working at Oak Ridge Country Club. He moved to California for two years, where his interest in real estate speculation grew even further. A serial entrepreneur from a family of entrepreneurs based in Minneapolis, MN, Rick has been involved in over forty small businesses, in nine industries, in seven different states.
After graduating from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN with a degree in accounting, he opened the first of what was to be over thirty franchise businesses in six industries over twenty years. Aside from franchising, Rick has also started, grown, and sold several independent small businesses, from government-contract janitorial services to venture-capital consulting.
The relationship with Downtown Resource Group grew out of Rick’s passion and avocation: Being of service, and working with new and small businesses and the entrepreneurs that run them. Rick helped with the initial Strategic Plan for DRG, and has since worn several hats including strategic planning, financial management, rental-management development, and most recently new market development.

Jessica was born in Brooklyn Park and grew up in Minneapolis. She has over 5 years of administrative experience, 3 of which were in real estate. She handles all of the rentals management files and works hard to make everything for tenants and owners as simple as possible. She is also the go-to contact for all tenant or owner questions.
Jessica will be attending William Mitchell College of Law in the upcoming fall and looks forward to continuing with Downtown Resource Group as she moves forward along this academic endeavor.

Deborah was born and raised in St. Louis Park and resides in NE Minneapolis. She has a BA in Business Administration from the University of Northern Iowa and her masters in Sport Management from the State University of New York at Cortland. As the Rentals Management Coordinator at DRG she handles all of the rentals management files and works hard to make everything for tenants and owners as simple as possible. She is also the go-to contact for all tenant or owner questions.
Deborah is also assisting the University of Minnesota’s Athletic Department in coordinating events in the new TCF Bank Stadium. She looks forward to continuing with Downtown Resource Group as she moves forward along this career endeavor.
